Britian's plan was to cut off the passages from New England and all the other states around them. They had come up with 3 "teams" of soldiers.
They had planed for all 3 of them to go down and BOOM!!, attack them but only 1 of the teams actually came down and stayed there.
St. Lager sent Burgoyne a letter saying "Hey I decided not to come down and help you fight. Good luck man!"
